On April 13th and 14th, the Berkeley Journal of Entertainment & Sports Law, the Berkeley Center for Law, Business & the Economy, the UC Berkeley Division of Equity & Inclusion, the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology, and the Haas Sports Business Club presented the 3rd Annual Sports & Society Conference. This event included leading figures in the industry, such as David Falk (Michael Jordan’s agent), Andre Iguodala of the Golden State Warriors, and representatives from local teams like the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, and Cal Athletics.
Our Podcast team had a chance to conduct interviews with three of the speakers present at this conference, which can be listened to here.
The first interview is with David Falk, where you can hear Falk discuss Jordan’s initial negotiations with Nike, the formation of Air Jordan, and advice for law students aspiring to become agents.
The second interview is with Dave Prouty, General Counsel of the MLB Players Association, where you can hear Prouty discuss recent MLB initiatives to increase minority interest in the sport.
Finally, the third interview is with Brett Hirsch, Legal Counsel for GoPro, who discusses GoPro’s influence on creating a new wave of sports media and content generation.
